The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the dissolution of the Enugu State Executive Committee with immediate effect, following what it described as a comprehensive review of the party’s situation in the state.
Rising from its 179th meeting held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, and presided over by the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the committee approved the appointment of a seven-man Caretaker Committee to steer the affairs of the party in Enugu State.
The newly constituted Caretaker Committee is chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh serving as Secretary. Other members include H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh.
According to the communiqué released by the party, the committee will be officially inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja.
This development effectively ends the tenure of Hon. Ugochukwu Agbalah, who previously chaired the Enugu APC executive before its dissolution.
The meeting also deliberated on other key national issues, including the clearance and disqualification of aspirants for the Ekiti State governorship primary election, the planned inauguration of the APC National Reconciliation Committee headed by Chief Bisi Akande, and the commencement of public hearings by the Constitution Amendment Committee later this month.
The party further disclosed that the timetable for upcoming congresses across the country will be made public soon, alongside preparations for the inauguration of the APC Anambra Governorship National Campaign Council.
