The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, SAN, has been celebrated as a pivotal figure in the state’s governance, following his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The occasion was marked over the weekend during a state reception organised in his honour, drawing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and government officials.
Governor Dr. Peter Mbah described the justice sector as the cornerstone of his administration, attributing much of the government’s achievements to the guidance and diligence of Dr. Udeh and his team.
“Today is more than a personal celebration for Dr. Udeh,” Governor Mbah remarked. “It is a testament that dedication and hard work yield results. The progress we have made as a government – attracting investors, implementing development projects, and safeguarding contracts is only possible because of a team that ensures everything we do aligns with the law.”
He emphasized that the Attorney General’s counsel is integral to the administration’s decisions, noting, “We do not move faster than the law; we move with it. Dr. Udeh ensures that every action, every contract, and every policy is within the legal framework, protecting the state and its people.”
In his response, Dr. Udeh expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah, the state cabinet, the judiciary, and the citizens of Enugu State for their unwavering support and encouragement. He highlighted that the conferment of the SAN rank is not only a personal achievement but also a call to enhanced service for the people of the state and the nation.
“Receiving this rank is a responsibility to serve with greater capacity and integrity,” Dr. Udeh said. “I encourage our youth to stay focused and persistent; with dedication, there is no limit to the heights they can reach in their chosen careers.”
The event also featured a notable recognition from the Enugu East Senatorial Zone Council of Traditional Rulers. Led by the traditional ruler of Nike, His Majesty Igwe Julius Nnaji (Odezuluigbo II), the council presented Governor Mbah with a special acknowledgment for his leadership and transformative impact on the state.
“We commend Governor Mbah for his vision, courage, and commitment to the welfare of the people,” Igwe Nnaji said. “Through education, infrastructure, agriculture, and security initiatives, he has revitalized traditional institutions and restored confidence in governance. His policies are laying the groundwork for a legacy that will benefit generations.”
Governor Mbah also received an Award of Excellence for Citizenship Empowerment from the council, celebrating his innovative efforts in developing Enugu State and empowering its citizens.
The ceremony, attended by several government officials, dignitaries, and community leaders, underscored the synergy between the justice sector, leadership, and citizen-focused governance as a driving force behind Enugu State’s remarkable progress.
