Professor Christian Chidubem Ngwu, Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), was the toast of the town yesterday as youths, academicians, students, former students, government officials and a broad cross-section of well-wishers gathered to celebrate his birthday.
The event, held in Enugu, was described by attendees as a warm and heartfelt tribute to a scholar-administrator who has quickly become a visible presence in the state’s public life since his appointment as ENSIEC chairman. Prof. Ngwu, a Professor of Mass Communication at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) before his ENSIEC appointment, has been active in public discourse and electoral planning since his confirmation to lead the state electoral body. His nomination and confirmation as ENSIEC chairman were carried out in April 2024 following his selection by Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah.
